GRADE 7
The seventh grade project for students is to design and build a solar race car. This car will rely on the solar energy of the sun to power it in a race against the other cars in their class. If Mother Nature deters us from using the sun’s energy for power than we will install a battery backup pack, while learning about electrical currents, and race the cars.
GRADE 8
The students final project in Technology Education will be to design and test a bridge using a computer simulated program designed by West Point College and then build their bridge to scale using balsa wood. They will then test their bridge to see how much weight they can hold. In addition, students must work in groups of three as an architect, accountant and business manager to create their own bridge company. They will learn how to take data and import it into Excel to create spreadsheets that support the successes of their company. They will learn how to modify digital pictures and prints to enhance their power point presentations. They will create business cards and learn how to write checks and keep a balance sheet of a 1.6 million dollar budget.
